Due to deteriorating weather conditions and concern for the safety
of mushers, dogs, spectators and volunteers, the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog
Association has canceled this coming weekends races.
Safety is our top priority. Given the rain overnight, the impending flash freeze and the
lack of snow in this weeks forecast, it would be irresponsible to encourage mushers,
volunteers and spectators to be on the trail this weekend. We will make the best of a
difficult situation, says Darlene Walch, UPSDA president.

Everyone looking forward to this weekends sled dog races is wondering: Is there enough snow?
Race organizers believe there is enough snow to run all three races, although some modifications are anticipated.

Why drive when you can be chauffeured to the Grand Marais checkpoint in style aboard the Mush Bus? We have about a dozen tickets still available, but dont wait! Cost is $40, and youll be entertained by tour guide Dan Truckey enroute. Grand Marais has food, a raffle, a silent auction, and a chance to see the UP200 teams up close at the halfway point. We can even pick up riders in Munising if needed. The bus will leave Marquette on Saturday, February 18th at 11am from the Holiday Inn, and will return around 7pm.To purchase tickets, call Pat Torreano at 906-458-9997.
