For each entry in the UP200 Dryland Dash a $1 donation is set aside for the Upper PeninsulaAnimal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS). It took a little longer than anticipated to get the check fromour Dryland Dash partner, WI Trailblazers, into the paws of UPAWS. The delay, entirely on theUPSDA side of things, resulted from scheduling glitches between UPSDA President DarleneWalch and UPAWS. But finally, the $67 donation was presented to shelter supervisor HayleyWeston who was assisted by friendly and adoptable shelter resident Roxie.

The UPSDA Board unanimously approved the 2022 UP200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30 race rules at their December meeting. Changes were minimal but mushers will want to look at the veterinary section about mandatory vaccinations. Rules will be posted on our website soon.

At a drawing last week one musher from each race won the 50% refund on their entry. The drawing was conducted during the UPSDA meeting where Midnight Run musher representative Lynn Witte drew Jerry Trudells name from the Jack Pine 30 entries. Jerry is from Calumet, MI and has been mushing for 15 years from his Sharks Came Racing kennel.

Join us for a fun-filled fall weekend at the 2021 UP200 Dryland Dash on October 9th and 10th. Register online through Wisconsin Trailblazers. Races start at 10:00 a.m. at the Negaunee Township Park located at 42 M35 in Negaunee, Michigan. In partnership with the Wisconsin Trailblazers sled dog club, well host races for rigs, scooters, bikes, and canicross with 1,2, 4 and 6-dog teams competing on one-mile and two-mile trail loops.
