Every musher who entered one of the three UPSDA races by November 1st was entered into a
drawing to win 50% of the paid entry fee. On behalf of one of our sponsors, Klumpp Family
Chiropractic, Dr. E.A. Klumpp drew the winning names. Congratulations to Ryan Beaber
(Midnight Run) and Liza Dietzen (UP200) whose names were drawn! There were no mushers
entered in the Jack Pine 30 by the drawing deadline so that prize goes unclaimed. Thanks to Dr.

Re-elected to the Presidency was Darlene Walch. The Secretary-Treasurer position, which had been held by Pam Forsberg, will now be split into two positions.Pam will continue as Secretary with Gary Sjolund assuming the Treasurer position. This decision was due to the increased workload and growth of the organization. We need to appoint one more Board member due to Jennifer Beckmans resignation.

Deanna DeValve, a senior at Marquette High School, volunteered to photograph the Midnight
Run finish and awards banquet. Deanna and her mom met UPSDA President Darlene Walch at
the UPSDA presentation about sled dog racing held at Peter White Public Library. Deanna
asked permission to take photographs of the presentation because she was working on a music
video. It was that chance meeting which led Deanna, her Dad and older sister to become
volunteers at the UPSDA sled dog races.
