Race Information & Musher Registration (Inside)

Assist with musher on-site race registration; record keeping; phone calls. Interact with people seeking race information and updates. 

Merchandise Sales (Inside and Outside)

Assist with setup and work point of sales for race related merchandise.

Vet Check (Outside)

Provide support for veterinarians during mandatory pre-race vet check; help with musher check-in, documents and record keeping.

Bag Checkers (Outside - Marquette, Chatham, Grand Marais, Gwinn)

Check each musher’s sled bag for mandatory equipment and gear at race starts, checkpoints and finish lines.

Dog Handling (Outside - Marquette, Chatham, Wetmore, Grand Marais, Gwinn)

Assist in moving dog teams to the starting gate (physically demanding, requires experience or a training session prior to race).

Crowd Control/Marquette downtown start (Outside)

Assist with security to provide for the safety of mushers, dogs, and spectators. 

Start & Finish Line & Checkpoints/Setup and Take Down (Outside - Marquette, Chatham, Wetmore, Grand Marais, Gwinn)

Set up trail barriers, fencing, start & finish gates, and checkpoint parking. 

Timers and Record Keepers (Inside and Outside - Marquette, Chatham, Wetmore, Grand Marais, Gwinn)

Document, record and communicate each musher’s arrival and departure times at starting gates, checkpoints, and finish lines. 

Road Crossings (Outside - Marquette, Chatham, Wetmore, Grand Marais, Gwinn)

Provide safe crossings for mushers and their dog teams. Must be willing to be outside during shifts and follow road crossing protocols.

ROAD CROSSING GUIDELINES

Race Logistics Center (Inside) 

Monitor race activity and communication, post updates on social media, assist with official timing and record keeping. 

Ham Radio Operators (Inside and Outside)

Provide race communications from rural outposts and road crossings.
