Our veterinary crew is once again assisted by the Checkpoint Veterinary unit.

Checkpoint Veternairy, LLC (CPV) is a mobile treatment trailer that travels to dog sled races across the Midwest. Nick and Taylor Biermaier started CPV in 2016 as a way to give back to the athletes and vet team at each event. Our goal is to provide a well deserved heated, clean, safe and reliable place for sled dogs and the vet team along the trail. We are equipped to treat injured, sick and dehydrated dogs and offer a warm place to care for the dogs. We want to give the best possible care to these amazing athletes and their team.

We are always up for a challenge. Building this company has been a very rewarding adventure. Taylor graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and is now a practicing veterinarian in Baxter, MN. Nick is a journeyman electrician and keeps busy with many handyman jobs. Together, we use each of our skills and talents to create CPV.

We have provided our services to 6+ races. Each of which were a success, requesting our attendance in the future. We receive many thanks and appreciation at each checkpoint along the trails which is very rewarding, knowing we are making a difference in the care of the dogs. We always appreciate feedback, which has helped us construct changes to the layout and equipment of the trailer.

As the 2018 race season is well underway, we would like to extend our thanks to all those who have supported CPV. We hope to continue serving these dogs, their caregivers and their veterinarians for many years to come.

Checkpoint Veterinary would not be able to carry out its mission without the support of our sponsors. Sponsorship money is used to improve the trailer and supply equipment, all donations we receive go back into CPV and to the well being of the sled dogs. A special thanks to our lead sponsor, RedPaw Dog Food, who have supported us from the start.

Thank you for your support, Dr. Taylor and Nick Biermaier
