The UPSDA MISSION:
To promote the sled dog sport, educate the public about sled dog activities, and sponsor a continuous, mid-distance sled dog race in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

U.P. 200 Trail Descriptions

The race route consists of approximately 240 miles. This course will be run on diverse terrain. The UP200 begins in downtown Marquette, on Friday February 19, 2010, and follows Lake Superior for 4 1/2 miles. The trail continues over rolling hills, plowed secondary roads and new trails leading into Wetmore on to snowy Grand Marais.

APPROXIMATE MILEAGE:

Marquette to Wetmore 60 miles

Wetmore to Grand Marais 60 miles

Grand Marais to Wetmore 60 miles

Wetmore to Chatham 25 miles

Chatham to Marquette 35 miles

MIDNIGHT RUN

The Midnight Run starts in Gwinn early Friday evening, February 19, 2010. The trail will follow the original UP200 trail from Gwinn to Marquette (near the Carp River) and on to Deerton for the mandatory layover.

From Deerton the teams will continue on for a Saturday morning finish in Munising.

APPROXIMATE MILEAGE:

Gwinn to Deerton 46 miles

Deerton to Munising 43 miles
