I am a veterinarian and I have been running sled dogs for 11 years. During that time I have competed in sprint races and some mid-distance races as well. My lead dogs are named Tuba and Bergan. We are really looking forward to running the Jack Pine 30!

This is my 19th winter of dog sledding. My inspiration to get started came from the fabulous UP200. My husband Jim and I began acquiring our own huskies in 1993. We soon found that the sport was too good to keep to ourselves. We started a business, Snowy Plains, http://www.snowyplains.com_ (http://www.snowyplains.com/) , where we offer rides and mini-adventures. Our wonderful dogs have inspired me to write a series of children’s sled dog books, including Miki’s Challenge, Miki’s Race, and Promise of the White Dog. I enjoy sharing these stories through “Magic of Dog Sledding” presentations. We like to participate in a sled dog race or two each year and want to thank the UPSDA and volunteers for making the events in this area possible.

My wife and I have been running sled dogs for a little over 12 years. We have 28 Alaskan Huskies including pups and retirees, ranging from sprint, mid distance and old school lines which make up Ravenwood Kennel. This is my first year racing and my second race ever.
